National Board Certification Candidate Support

Now more than ever, teachers must prove themselves in a constantly changing education landscape. Board certification allows teachers to hone their practice, showcase their talent in the classroom, and demonstrate their dedication to their students and their profession. National Board Certified Teachers (NBCTs) are recognized across the nation as having met the highest standards set by the profession. 
 
As of December 13, 2016 the El Rancho Unified School District now offers support and incentive for educators who achieve board certification.  Any certificated teacher who obtains National Board Certification will be eligible for a salary increase of $10,000 from their current step and column placement on the salary schedule of the El Rancho Unified School District. The signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the District and ERFT shall be in effect from December 13, 2016 and expire June 30, 2020.
 
To become eligible, each unit member of the El Rancho Federation of Teachers must submit all necessary documentation verifying that they have obtained National Board Certification to Human Resources.  After receipt of necessary documentation, Human Resources will then verify the validity of the documentation to establish eligibility for an increase of $10,000 from that teacher's current step and column placement on the ERUSD salary schedule which shall be accomplished in the time frame established under Article XIV Compensation, Section B Salary Regulations.
 
El Rancho Unified School District shall assume 50% of the application fee and component fees for teachers applying for National Board Certification.  If a teacher fails to complete the NBC program within three years of the beginning the program, the District may request that the teacher reimburse the District for any costs it has incurred for application and component fees within two years of concluding pursuit of National Board Certification.  A teacher who begins the NBC program and decides to resign or retire from the District prior to completion of the program must immediately reimburse the District for any costs it has incurred for application and component fees prior to resigning or retiring.
 
 
Please attach proof of payment with this completed form and bring all documentation to Human Resources office to request a 50% reimbursement of fees paid for the National Board Certification program. All received documentation will be date stamped to confirm receipt and a copy will be provided you for your records.
