Title IX Notification
NOTIFICATION OF CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION TITLE IX
Title IX remains a critical federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex (including sexual harassment) in our schools. It protects male and female students and employees in any education entity that receives federal funds. In addition, Title IX protects transgender students and students who do not conform to sex
stereotypes. State law also prohibits discrimination based on gender (sex), gender expression, gender identity and sexual orientation. The preamble to Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 state that:
No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.
I am the designated Title IX Coordinator for the El Rancho Unified School District. Title IX requires that each public-school district, as well as state-approved nonpublic special education programs, have at least one person designated as the Title IX Coordinator. The Title IX Coordinator ensures active compliance with the law.
