City of Pico Rivera College Institute for College Admissions

The City of Pico Rivera will be hosting a College Institute for college-bound students in October. The series will focus on guiding students through the college application process, financial aid, scholarships and grants. Additionally, students will meet with counselors from UCs, CSU’s, Community Colleges, Independent Colleges and Universities. This program is open to Juniors and Seniors with at least a 2.0 GPA. Applications are due by September 15th.

The City of Pico Rivera will be holding an American Red Cross Blood Drive. Join the community in its challenge to be one of the best city donors. Donate one pint and save three lives.

2014-2015 Calendar Dates Announced

The new school year will kick off on August 20 when ERUSD will welcome students back from summer break.

Holidays include Labor Day on September 1, Admissions Day on November 10, Veterans’ Day on November 11, Thanksgiving Break on November 24-28 and Winter Recess on December 22-January 9.

Other holidays include Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on January 19, Lincoln’s Day on February 9, President's Day on February 16, Spring Recess on April 6-10 and Memorial Day on May 25.

The final day of classes for the 2014-2015 school year is June 11.

A public hearing for both the district budget and the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2014 beginning at 5:00 p.m. (closed session) in the Student Services Building. Public session will begin promptly at 5:30 p.m. This is an opportunity to provide commentary on the district's budget and LCAP. Written comments can also be sent through our "Contact Us" tab. El Rancho High School Band

El Rancho High School Band recently visited Washington DC. The students were able to visit many exciting places including the Smithsonian Museum, toured the US Capitol, Colonial Williamsburg, VA, The White House, Arlington National Cemetery and many of the memorials on the Mall.

The band also attended a live concert of "The President's Own" Marine Band at which the conductor, Colonel Colburn, honored the students by coming to speak and pose for photo'.

The band also performed at President Washington's home at Mount Vernon, VA, The Symphonic Band received an EXCELLENT rating at the Dixie Classic Music Festival and were honored to perform for the wounded military and veterans at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

It was a very rewarding experience for the students.
