Public Statement Regarding Released Employee

Mr. Karling Aguilera-Fort, Superintendent of El Rancho Unified School District, released the following statement:

“Recently, an employee at El Rancho High School was accused of inappropriate behavior. Consistent with District policy, the employee was suspended immediately thereafter, precluding any contact with students. El Rancho Unified School District staff investigated and reported the accusation to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, whose personnel have also investigated. Following the investigation, the employee was terminated from employment with the District.

“Student safety is El Rancho Unified School District’s top operational priority, and effective and transparent communication with our parents and community stakeholders is critical to maintaining it. At no point did I, or any member of the Board of Education, direct staff to keep pertinent information from parents. Parents should rest assured that El Rancho Unified School District is, has been, and will be completely transparent when it comes to information that keeps our students safe. Although we generally cannot comment on the specifics of personnel matters, I encourage any parent who has questions to contact the Superintendent’s Office directly at (562) 801-7300."

Our Strategic Planning Process

Dear Community Members,

I am pleased to share with you that after nine months of listening, learning and collecting input from a diverse group that represents the larger community of ERUSD, we have the formal draft of the 2018-2023 ERUSD Strategic Plan. I would like to share with you some of the highlights of our process:

From September until December of 2017, we held Community Forums at different school sites. The Community Forums were structured in such a way that allowed participants to discuss and engage in a constructive dialogue about the areas to be addressed in the plan. The design of these Forums followed a research-based approach to ensure all participants had the opportunity to hear and learn from each other's perspective. From January until March of 2018, we held individual meetings to gather the perspective of community partners. During this time, we also gathered the perspective of school and central office administrators.
