Our Strategic Planning Process

We also held Student Voice Forums. These Forums allowed students to share their own perspectives about the experiences and educational opportunities they are provided in ERUSD. Students shared their individual views about what should be the next level of work that we need to enact as a district. Their perspective is included in the general design of the Strategic Plan. The different data points were used to write the initial proposed draft of the Strategic Plan for ERUSD.

As part of the process, we held two special Board meetings to gather input from our Board of Education. As the policy making body of our District, the Board of Education has the responsibility of providing direction to the staff (including the Superintendent) to address the areas of work in order to accomplish the vision and mission on behalf of the students and on behalf of the larger community. A Study Session was held on May 19, 2018 for the Board to provide their input and their perspective with regards to the initial draft of the ERUSD Strategic Plan.

Another convening was held on June 1, 2018 to allow for participation of teachers, parents from the different constituencies in our district (DAC, DELAC, PTA), students and administrators, city representatives, and other agencies.  The number of participants for this session was limited given the space and intent of the meeting.

The design of the Strategic Plan is an iterative process that will allow us to evaluate its progress on a yearly basis. Thus, the community will have an opportunity to continue providing input as we collaborate to ensure we have included as many perspectives as possible.

Currently, we are engaged in the annual revision of our Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP), which is our up to date guide to enact the work in ERUSD. There will be a public hearing at a special Board meeting about the LCAP on June 13, 2018 to allow for community input and to allow us to reach a diverse representation of our constituencies.

I want to thank our ERUSD Community for the support you have provided and for the commitment to collaborate with us in order to provide the best educational experiences to each and every student.

Sincerely,

Karling Aguilera-Fort
