ERUSD to Offer FREE Flu Vaccinations for Elementary Students

The flu is an illness caused by flu viruses. The flu may make people cough and have a sore throat and fever. They may also have a runny or stuffy nose, feel tired, have body aches, or show other signs they are not well. The flu happens every year and is more common in the fall and winter in the U.S. People of all ages can get the flu, from babies and young adults, to the elderly.

The best way to prevent getting flu is to get vaccinated every year. Everyone 6 months of age and older should get vaccinated. For the 2016-2017 flu season the only available vaccine to fight against the flu will be a vaccine done by injection as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices.

FREE flu vaccination will be offered to all students on the following dates:
• November 21, 2016 @ Birney Tech Academy/Magee Academy of Arts and Sciences
• November 22, 2016 @ Rio Vista Elementary/Rivera Elementary
• November 28, 2016 @ South Ranchito Dual Language Academy/Valencia Academy of the Arts
• November 29, 2016 @ North Ranchito Elementary/Durfee Elementary

The process is simple! All you have to do is fill out and sign the consent form that will be brought home by your child.
