Hello El Rancho Family,
This is your Superintendent, Dr. Frances Esparza.  I wanted to inform you that the El Rancho Unified School District continues to monitor the local state and National status of the new Corona virus and remains in close communication with various Health agencies to provide resources to school communities and keep them updated.  You can visit our website at www.erusd.org. Know that our custodial staff will disinfect School sites on a daily basis.  Staff will monitor restrooms several times daily to ensure that sufficient soap and hand towels are available for students and staff.   We will also continue to take the temperatures of our students who visit the nurse's office.  As a reminder,  if a student is sent home with a fever,  they must be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school.  Please keep your children home if they feel ill.   This includes symptoms such as; not just fevers,  but cough, difficulty breathing and or intestinal problem.  Stay home at least 24 hours after you have a fever.  Parents can help our schools by updating contact information for parents and Guardians in order to expedite communication if needed.  I encourage you to make sure that at your school your information is current and that anyone else who has authorization to be responsible for your child is also current.   Parents can update their contact information using our parent portal.   Rest assured that if anything necessitates a school closure here in El Rancho,  you will be notified immediately and provided with specific plans on how to continue your child's education. Continuance of Education will include both independent study at home and online distance learning.   We have created plans, and they are being put in place, on how to make remote learning assignment easily accessible for families who are technology equipped as well as for those who may need assistance with technology.   Adults can help by modeling calmness when explaining to children what the coronavirus is all about.  Families can also help by making certain that students stay home when they're ill.   If you're unsure about sending your student back to school,  please keep them home or call your doctor for advice.   Please know that we are working every day to prepare and continuously enhance plans for any challenges that the unprecedented Covid-19 or Coronavirus may bring to our school district.   Our community has always worked best as a family and this situation reminds us of our need to work with each other; for each other, so please remember to always practice sensitivity and use words that avoid marginalizing other communities.
