43rd Annual MACY Awards

The 43rd annual MACY Awards (Musical Arts Commendation for Youth) were held at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa on Saturday, May 25, 2013.  El Rancho High School’s production of the musical 70, GIRLS, 70 was entered in competition with 45 other schools and was awarded Best Comedy of the Year. 
 
Kudos go out to Nina Marquez, Jeana Hernandez, Rebecca Valenzuela, Joshua Forniss, Joey Salinas and Samantha Cabanas who received the Highest Achievement in Acting award.  Other awards include Raymond Candia and Natalie Sepulveda for Outstanding Achievement and Melissa Gallegos and Angelica Torres for Achievement.  Receiving Special Recognition was Oscar Aquino, Jacob Amavizca and Isaac Rodriguez.  The Bright Spot was awarded to Anthony Cervantes, Sarah Rivera and Sandi-Rose Wood while the Drino/Childress Scholarship was presented to Joshua Forniss.

In addition, Nina Marquez was one of five final nominees for Best Comedienne and Best Actress while Joey Salinas was one of five final nominees for Best Supporting Actor.
