Suicide Prevention
El Rancho Unified School District is committed to preventing suicide and supporting the mental, emotional, and social well-being of all students. Suicide prevention is a shared responsibility between schools, families, students, and community partners.
The district's comprehensive approach includes prevention, intervention, and postvention.
Prevention – Before a Crisis
- Staff training on warning signs and referral procedures
- Student learning focused on coping and resiliency skills
- Family education and community partnerships
Intervention – When There Is a Concern
- Immediate response by trained school staff
- Parent/guardian notification
- Coordination with mental health professionals
- Emergency services when required
Postvention – After a Loss
- Support for students, staff, and families
- Monitoring of students who may be at higher risk
- Coordination with community agencies
