At about 10:15 a.m., our schools will take part in the Great California ShakeOut earthquake drill. At the same time, the district will send a test alert through ParentSquare. You should receive a phone call, a text message, and an email. This is only a test, and there is no cause for concern.

How Our Schools Prepare

Our schools practice emergency drills throughout the school year so students and staff know what to do. On October 15, students will join millions of Californians in the Great California ShakeOut and practice Drop, Cover, and Hold On. Ask your child what they learned.

Prepare at Home

If you feel an earthquake, take these three steps right away.

Drop
Drop down onto your hands and knees.
Cover
Cover your head and neck with your arms. If a sturdy table or desk is nearby, crawl under it.
Hold On
Hold on until the shaking stops.

These trusted sources can help your family make a plan, build a supply kit, and get local alerts. Alert LA County sends free emergency alerts from Los Angeles County by text, email, or phone.
