National Merit Scholarship Competition

El Rancho High School is pleased to announce that senior Monserrat Marquez was recently named a finalist in the National Merit Scholarship competition.  After taking the PSAT/NMSQT in her junior year, Monserrat was named as a semi-finalist in August, 2012.  A pool of about 16,000 semi-finalists was designated from more than 1.5 million entrants to the scholarship competition.  Less than one percent of test takers in each state are recognized as semi-finalists.  As a finalist, Monserrat now has an excellent chance of receiving a National Merit Scholarship.  Recipients of these scholarships will be announced in May.
We are pleased to announce that Monserrat Marquez is the only student in the Whittier, Montebello and Downey area to be named as a semi-finalist and finalist.  Congratulations!!
