You’ll Get a Test Alert Thursday Morning — Here’s Why

This notice is available in English and Spanish below.

PICO RIVERA, Calif., October 14, 2026

On Thursday, October 15, El Rancho Unified School District will join millions of participants in the Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drill. Students and staff across our schools will practice Drop, Cover, and Hold On and review earthquake safety procedures to help prepare for an emergency.

In addition to the drill, ERUSD will use this opportunity to test its Emergency Alert System at approximately 10:15 AM. Families will receive a phone call, text, and email through ParentSquare, the district's only official communication platform.

This is only a test. The purpose of this exercise is to assess the functionality and efficiency of our Emergency Alert System. In the event of a real emergency, these notification channels will be used to provide critical information, instructions, and updates to our school community.

We encourage families to make sure their contact information is up to date in the Aeries Parent Portal so they receive important communications from the district. Updates can be made through your school office or through Aeries while Data Confirmation is still open.

The safety of our students and staff is our number one priority. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Together, we are better prepared to keep our schools safe.
