Academic Excellence in Action at Our Middle Schools

El Rancho Unified School District is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of students from North Park Academy of the Arts and The STEAM Academy @ Burke at this year’s Orange County Academic Pentathlon.

The Academic Pentathlon is a rigorous, team-based competition that challenges students across five subject areas, including literature, math, science, fine arts, and social science. Students demonstrate their knowledge through written assessments and a fast-paced team event known as the Super Quiz, while also building confidence, teamwork, and critical thinking skills.

This year marked an exciting milestone as both schools competed in the Academic Pentathlon for the very first time and delivered impressive results against schools across Orange County.

At North Park Academy of the Arts, students made an impressive first-year showing, earning 3rd place in the 8th grade Division 3 competition. In addition to their team success, students brought home 18 individual medals across subject areas, reflecting their dedication and hard work throughout the season.

At The STEAM Academy @ Burke, students also made an impressive first-year showing, with teams representing both 7th and 8th grade. The 7th grade team competed in Division 2, earning 5th place overall and 3rd place in the Super Quiz. The 8th grade team competed in Division 3, earning 5th place overall and 1st place in the Super Quiz, outperforming other competing schools. Across both grade levels, students brought home an impressive 25 individual medals and four team awards.

These accomplishments reflect the dedication of both students and staff, who committed countless hours to studying, practicing, and supporting one another.

The Academic Pentathlon experience goes beyond competition. It creates opportunities for students of all ability levels to grow academically, build confidence, and feel connected to their school community.

We congratulate all participating students, coaches, and families for an incredible first year and look forward to even more success in the years ahead.
