Hello my name is Gisela Castanon and I'm honored to introduce myself the new director of Elementary Education. I'm an educator with 24 years of experience and most recently I served as Principal of North Park Academy of the Arts for two-and-a-half years and before that as Principal Magee Academy for the Arts and Sciences for six years. I'm an innovative and creative educator who sees the potential in every student. I will work hard to expand opportunities for students and plan to be actively involved in our elementary schools observing, interacting, strategizing to bring about the best academic and social outcomes for elementary students. My responsibilities are not only to supervise and support all elementary administrators, instructional programs, and methods of teaching at our eight Elementary Schools, but also to make education the best for all our students. I have been provided incredible opportunities to listen, learn, and lead from the best teachers and administrators. For close to two and a half decades in public education, I am going to continue to do so as director of Elementary Education. My name is Jazmin Chavez-Diaz and is with great pride that I introduced myself as a new Director of Secondary Education. I have worked in education for more than 20 years in a variety of roles. I have served as Coordinator of Curriculum and Instruction, as Principal of South Ranchito Dual Language Academy, and El Rancho High School assistant principal of curriculum and instruction, Dean of discipline and guidance, and English teacher. I'm excited to work with our students, teachers, administrators, parents, and staff. I will work hand-in-hand with our stakeholders to continue to expand and grow the opportunities available to our students. In my two decades in ERUSD, I have seen the devotion and commitment of our staff and the limitless talent that our students have. In my new role I will work with our Middle Schools and high schools to increase vertical articulation and strengthen our academic program. I will visit regularly to observe and learn. I am excited to begin the work of Director of Secondary Education and look forward to continuing to serve the community.
