El Rancho High to Host Community Basketball Night

El Rancho High School is hosting a Community Basketball Night at which time the Dons will face off with the Santa Fe Chiefs. All students and community members are invited. Students from an El Rancho Unified school wearing a school T-Shirt will have free admission to the game.

College Financial Aid Workshop

El Rancho High School will host an informative financial aid workshop for high school students planning to attend a post-secondary school next year. Financial aid is available for trade schools, community colleges and four-year universities.

Date: Wednesday, January 14, 2015

Location: El Rancho High School Cafeteria

Time: 6:30 p.m.

The workshop will explain what documentation is needed and how to complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is used by colleges, the state and federal government to determine a student's eligibility for grants and other aid.

Assembly Resolution Presented to ERUSD Board of Education

An Assembly Resolution was presented to the ERUSD Board of Education by Professor Armando Vazquez-Ramos, California State University, Long Beach on behalf of the Honorable Luis A. Alejo, 30th Assembly District; the Honorable Cristina Garcia, 58th Assembly District; and the Honorable Ricardo Lara, 33rd Senatorial District commending the District for its historic adoption of an Ethnic Studies policy. By making Ethnic Studies a graduation requirement, ERUSD is the first district in the state of California to provide students with a well-rounded and quality education that exposes every graduate to cultures that are crucial to understanding our nation’s past and present. In addition, it helps students to appreciate the rich histories and cultural contributions of their own communities and meets their needs for a successful future in a global society.

Magnet High School Advisory Committee

On June 17, 2014 the El Rancho Unified School District Board of Education adopted a Resolution to open a new high school in the District with an International Baccalaureate Diploma and Performing Arts focus. As a result of the Resolution, the Magnet High School Advisory Committee was formed.

Thank you, Mr. Briones!

The Board of Education recognized Armando “Armie” Briones at its November 18, 2014 meeting for his 50 plus years of dedicated service and support to El Rancho High School. Mr. Briones celebrated his 50th anniversary as the football and basketball announcer in 2013. He began announcing at El Rancho High School football games during his junior year of high school. He continued to do so following graduation in 1967. During his tenure, he has collected all the statistical information on the school’s football history. Mr. Briones is professional and fair to both teams when announcing. He is the one and only voice of the Dons.
